New life, New body from Yoga By Gladys from GE6A Yoga originated from India over 5000 years ago. It’s an ancient science of achieving the harmony of body, mind and spirit. It’s a combination of physical, breathing and mental exercises. Many people practise yoga for fitness, good figure and physical health. Yoga’s physical exercise is a series of postures of bending, stretching, twisting and balancing, which promote flexibility, release muscular tension, increase strength and balance. I have found yoga helps control appetite and it doesn’t stimulate the desire for foods as other sports and exercises usually do. What is more fantastic, they massage gently the inner organs, help the movement of intestines and remove toxins and wastes, improve the blood circulation and make you look younger. Yoga breath is a slow, deep and rhythmic breathing method. It brings the whole lung capacity into use, taking in more oxygen and expelling more carbon dioxide than the usual breathing ways do. It goes with yoga poses, helping the body relax deeply and safely into each pose. It takes time to taste the benefits of breathing. But be patient, with time you will feel how it works on clearing, calming and relaxing your mind. The essence of yoga is self realization and awareness. You are up over yourself, watching quietly your mind and what is happening to you. Things are neither good nor bad. They are all experience. You feel and perceive and learn from them, which lead to a real understanding about who you are and what you are doing. It is a state of inner peace and happiness. It is a mental freedom away from the influence of emotion. Anyone can practice yoga and it is never too late to begin. What you need are just comfortable and loose clothes and a yoga mat. For beginners, it is recommended to have a qualified teacher. Monash gym center offers yoga class. Why not go there and experience yoga for yourself!
